This study is because
I have been asked about the reference to hands
representing ministry. We remember the story in 1
Kings you need to go read it, where he had stopped
the rain, but I want to look at these particular
verses, you should find the time to study this out
for yourself. Ministry is provision from our God. It
could be in many forms, whenever you see the word
hand mentioned it is most usually referring to
ministry.
1Kgs:18:41: And
Elijah said unto Ahab, Get thee up, eat and drink;
for there is a sound of abundance of rain.
1Kgs:18:42: So Ahab
went up to eat and to drink. And Elijah went up to
the top of Carmel; and he cast himself down upon the
earth, and put his face between his knees,
1Kgs:18:43: And said
to his servant, Go up now, look toward the sea. And
he went up, and looked, and said, There is nothing.
And he said, Go again seven times.
1Kgs:18:44: And it
came to pass at the seventh time, that he said,
Behold, there ariseth a little cloud out of the sea,
like a man's hand. And he said, Go up, say unto Ahab,
Prepare thy chariot, and get thee down that the rain
stop thee not.
I was referring to
Jesus himself bringing back ministry to the temple
with his own hands, as he plaited the whip working
with his hands to run off the money changers, etc.
there is special note given to the sellers of the
doves, you need to research that out as well. This is
an extensive study that My Pastor took many weeks to
bring to us, And I am going to try and sum it up in a
short note. LOLOL but you will have a general idea
Eph:4:11:
And he gave some,
apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists;
and some, pastors and teachers; (KJV)Eph:4:12:
For the perfecting of
the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the
edifying of the body of Christ: (KJV)
Ministry is for the
perfecting of the saints in the five fold ministry,
this is not to be confused with the seven fold
ministry mentioned in Corinthians, these are two
separate ministries, with two separate purposes, this
one here is speaking for the church now take your
hand and look at it, in Dueteronomy the word says he
will bless the works of our hands, you labor with
your hands, so hold up you hand what do you see?
1. your thumb --
"he gave some apostles, wiggle your thumb that's
the apostle.
and apostle basically
is a man who is anointed to go establish churches,
like the Apostle Paul. He goes into a city or
country, sets up a church incorporates the word,
establishes the ministry inside the church sets up a
Pastor, gets the Sunday school going encourages
evangelists (us but there is an office of evangelism
also which is the reference here) to go out bring in
the people, etc. when the church is established he
moves on and does it again somewhere else. I know of
a man in El Salvador doing this now.
This office is most
times confused with missionary work, which is an
altogether different thing than this.
2. your forefinger
point at something with it.. Go ahead do it :o)
that's your prophet.
He is out there
pointing as Elijah did, saying thus says the Lord,
etc. A prophet is was feared in the old testament,
knowing he was a man of God who brought a word from
God and usually it was correction, and such, showing
tremendous miracles, today I know a prophet, I know
two personally that I consider great prophets of God,
And when they come there is always an expectancy in
me. One man walked in preached, gave the word of the
Lord, for the church, which came to pass, and then
went to reading everyone's book, He went to my
friends Brother told him all about himself and where
God was going to take him, never met him in his life,
The brother being there was a miracle in itself,
needless to say it changed the entire family...
Dramatically.
It was awesome,.
Another man Mike and
his lovely wife Lori came in to church and he looked
at me, never met me but once, briefly and said five
words, and said it again.
A woman of great
faith, A woman of great faith. he was right on
target.. I had just lost my husband, been beat up by
his family lost my home my children (they were his
from a former marriage but I raised them sat up with
them at night potty trained one, taught one the
secret of reading as he was struggling to learn, of
sounding out his alpha bet into the word, I'm getting
off track, anyway I am a delivered set free by Jesus
Alcoholic and this family prophesied over me that I
would return from the filth of life I came from etc.
But I didn't I had faith that though it looked like
my life was over God was still in control, and I
can't tell you the trials I suffered, but refused to
give in. and stood in what I knew of my God, and
waited for him. Next time he came through he looked
at me and said you have a season of testing and trial
coming, he was right and I am now just now walking
out of it. So the prophet is the forefinger... He
points and says the Lord says...
3. Hold your hand out
flat fingers together, you have your middle finger,
this is the evangelist, this finger most usually
sticks out further than the other four, this is the
office that reaches out into the community bringing
in souls to the kingdom of God.
I have another story
of a man that truly was an evangelist. Every time He
comes to our church someone gets saved. People we
have prayed and prayed for , they show up and they
get saved. Its so awesome..to see this anointing of
evangelist working...
4. Hold out that hand
again... come on do it, that's your ring finger...
the covenant man, The Pastor of your church, He is
married to his church body, he is in covenant to the
Church God set him over, He cry's with us, he
provides meat for our table, (the word) He goes out
and labors studying the word, to give us fresh meat
everyday that we don't live on wormy manna. When you
loved one is sick we call him , he is there.
He makes sure the
church is running smoothly, sets up offices inside
the church, guards over them and us, prays over us,
keeps us from wandering off, and getting eaten by
wolves, The covenant man the Father of the house,
This is your Pastor,
5. Okay do it again
hold that hand way out there .. see that little
fellow on the end, the pinkie finger? This is your
smallest finger but hardest job. The teacher. Take
that little finger and stick it in your ear, go ahead
no ones watching, now wiggle it around, clean that
wax out that ear.. LOL that's what he does, he is
anointed to bring the word in such a way that you
have a hearing ear, Pastor says it like this, I can
sit down and teach you something for years, and a
teacher comes by says it the very same thing, and the
light turns on, its the anointing of the office of
teacher, Now me I am doubly blessed, we have many
great anointed teachers of the word but My Pastor
also has this gift.
This is 5 fold
ministry.. for the perfecting of the saints, all
working inside the local church, or should be , now
you see the guy we started with that thumb hold you
hand out again and take your thumb and touch the tip
of each finger with it. The Apostle is the only
finger that can touch each of the other offices, He
reaches them all. He stays in contact with the
churches he establishes, He incorporates these
ministries into that body so it can be efficient.
Gosh this is such an
awesome study, like I said go do some research, now
us the body if we aren't in this 5 fold ministry the
hand ministry then we are somewhere in the 7 fold
ministry, just pray and ask God to show you where you
fit, he will. And it all works together.
